Somatics

Somatic movement is the method of eliminating involuntary muscle tension, which causes pain and dysfunction.

Somatic therapy promotes pain-free movement by using slow, gentle and easy to learn exercises that teach you how to consciously control your muscles and become efficient at contracting, lengthening and relaxing muscles to restore their function.

Somatics causes a “re-set” of the nervous systems to awaken our awareness of muscles that have become habitually tightened, stuck and frequently producing pain. This awareness then provides the brain with the stimulus to release this tension.

This release of the muscles will provide length to chronically short, tight and painful muscles. This will improve posture, enhance muscle activation, (therefore performance), improve body awareness, reduce stress, joint pain, inflammation, chronic back, neck and shoulder pain, improve mobility, breathing and blood pressure.
